Located at the foot of the Great Pyramids, this former hunting lodge was built in the 19th century for the Egyptian monarch, and retains its old-world grandeur. We stayed here on our most recent trip, rather than downtown Cairo, and really enjoyed the experience. We recommend rooms with pyramid views. We had the Montgomery Suite, one of two presidential suites – the other is named for Winston Churchill, who was a guest here.

This boutique hotel is the only palace on the west bank of Nile, conveniently located 4 km from the valley of Kings. We stayed here on our second trip; most people stay on the East Bank, so it was very relaxing to be away from the crowds. Great concierge services, and every room is unique.
