El Calafate, in southern Patagonia, is the base for seeing the world-class attractions in the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, and one of the country's most visited destinations.
You'll be staying at Alta Vista, a lodge located in Estancia Anita, one of the most important and traditional sheep shearing sheds in the area. After check-in, you can visit the sheds and watch the shearing activity, or go for an afternoon horseback ride and explore the ranch's vast property.
Enjoy a day of fishing and walking on the shores of Lago Argentino.
Since children under 12 are not allowed to hike on the glaciers, we've developed activities for all members of the family.
You'll be driven by private transfer to the National Park, accompanied by a Glaciers National Park guide. Everyone over 12 years old will board the boat that crosses the Lago Argentino. On the opposite shore, you'll be greeted by your private guide, who will lead you on the unforgettable experience of hiking on the Perito Moreno Glacier. After a few hours, you'll return back to the port, meet up with the National Park's guide and be transferred to the catwalks opposite the massive glacier. There you'll learn about glaciology, and can admire the glacier with a new perspective.
Children under 12 will stay with the National Park's guide in the morning and walk the catwalks. Later, they'll return to the Estancia for an outdoor picnic, followed by a relaxing stroll or shopping in El Calafate. Horseback riding is also available.
Your group can split up, depending on what they'd like to do. Those who want to ride can enjoy a full day on horseback, with breathtaking views of the lake and valley. A packed lunch will be provided. The rest of group is free to go into town, take an "exploration" hike, or relax back at the Estancia.
Dinner
Galpon serves traditional "Cordero al Asador" or "en la cruz," which is a lamb cooked for 4 hours on cross by a wood fire.
Depart midday on a 50-minute drive to the airport. Your private flight to San Martin de los Andes in Northern Patagonia will fly over Lago Argentino, offering a spectacular view of the glaciers.
You will be picked up and taken to the Tipiliuke Lodge. The rest of the day, you're at your leisure to hike, horseback ride or just relax.
Fishing is one of the main activities in this area. We'll spend the day fly fishing for big brown and rainbow trout on the Chimehuin River. Regular fishing rods will be provided for the kids.
You will be picked up at Tipiluke Lodge by our two highly certified mountaineering guides, and driven through the Camino de los Siete Lagos towards Villa La Angostura. At Lago Nahuel Huapi, you'll board a sailboat and sail out to Brazo del Machete to set up your first camp. Brazo is one of the lake's most beautiful bays, lined with Arrayanes trees. During these two days, you'll hike, kayak, and sail. A chef will prepare gourmet food served with fine Malbec from the area.
Your rooms will be reserved at Tipiluke Lodge while you're away, in case you need to go back for any reason.
Today you'll hike into the bush to Gallardo Lake, where you'll camp overnight. This is an amazing spot, a real hidden gem, with no car or vehicle access of any kind. The hike isn't very long, and kids won't need to carry anything heavy.
If you aren't campers, we can arrange a stay in one of the many beautiful estancias nearby, and make day trips to the lakes for kayaking, hiking and fishing.
You will sail back to Villa La Angostura and be driven back to Tipiliuke Lodge.
Board a private plane to Buenos Aires and transfer to the Four Seasons Hotel.
Afternoon
Shopping at the Patio Bullrich, a very chic mall just 1 block from your hotel.
Dinner
Time for an adults' night out with dinner at Osaka, a Japanese-Peruvian restaurant in the trendy Palermo Hollywood neighborhood, followed by drinks at Casa Cruz, Buenos Aires' hippest bar. The kids will enjoy an evening at the hotel, where they can order up room service and movies.
Today you'll go to Palermo Viejo (SoHo) to shop its cool boutiques.
Lunch
Bar Uriarte
Afternoon
Time permitting, head off to San Telmo to see the street fair and watch tango exhibitions at Plaza Dorrego.
Evening
In Argentina, families bring in the New Year together; it's a multi-generational experience. We've planned a spectacular night for you, with a Black Tie dinner and New Year's Eve party at Alvear Palace Hotel. The celebration has European flair, with wonderful food, music, tango exhibitions, dancing and fireworks.
Fly to Iguazu and transfer to the Grand Casino Iguazu hotel near Iguazu Falls.
Afternoon
Take a private walking excursion to the Brazilian side of the falls, where catwalks provide an amazing vista. You can also take a helicopter ride over the falls for a panoramic view.
Dinner
Room service at the hotel.
Spend a private day with naturalists hiking, ziplining, rappelling and taking a canopy tour. Later, head back to the National Park for an adrenaline-filled private boat trip right into and through the massive falls. We had a photographer following us the whole day -- the pictures are incredible.
Depart Iguazu midday to Buenos Aires. You will have time to relax before heading to the airport for your evening flight.
