Kanha was one of the first areas to be protected under Project Tiger, an initiative aimed at preserving this magnificent animal, and remains a renowned conservation area. This picturesque reserve boasts the ideal habitat for both tigers and their prey species. Kanha shelters one of the largest populations of tigers in the country.
Lush sal and bamboo forests are interspersed with vast grassy meadows known as maidans, while the Banjaar River, which forms the park’s southwestern border, provides a steady water source for the abundant wildlife
Day 1
Hyderabad/Raipur/Kanha National Park
If continuing on from Hyderabad, you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the airport for your 3-hour flight to Raipur. Upon arrival at Raipur Airport, you will be met and chauffeured to the Kanha prime tiger wilderness, the Kanha National Park (approximately 4 ½ hour drive).
Upon arrival at Kanha, you will check in at th Taj Safaris Lodge Banjaar Tola overlooking the lush forests and grassy meadows of Kanha National Park. At Banjaar Tola Kanha Tented Camp you are one with the environment. Admire stunning river views from the privacy of your own veranda or share the experiences of the day on dramatic decks facing the Banjaar River.
Early Morning Game Drive
Start your morning game drive as dawn is breaking over the jungle with the expectation of seeing a tiger emerge from the undergrowth of the deciduous forest. This beautiful park, famous for its wildlife, is one of the few places on earth where one can experience the fragility of the forest firsthand. It is one of the best locations in India to view the most splendid of India’s beasts, the tiger.
You will explore the lush sal and bamboo forests in an open 4x4 safari vehicle and experience diverse wildlife and bird species accompanied by one of the country’s finest naturalists. The morning game drive crosses the meadows, or maidans, where you will view a large population of herbivore that attracts predators to the fringes of the clearings, including the “twelve horned” barasingha and India’s tallest wild buffalo, the guar.
Afternoon Game Drive
During the afternoon game drive the forest takes on a different mood as the wildlife are settling down for the night or having a final drink at the Banjaar River, one of the perennial streams that runs through the park. Through the rays of the setting sun you may sight a variety of monkeys and hear the evening call of the birds, or with any luck, spot the elusive leopard.
Early Morning Game Drive
We will again explore the extensive reserve with hopes of catching site of a tiger while enjoying the natural beauty of the landscape. This will be your last game drive before an afternoon departure to the airport.
In the afternoon, you will be met and driven to Nagpur Airport (approximately 5 ½ hours drive) for flight to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi – you will be met and chauffeured to international Airport to connect flight for your onward destination.
