Located in a dramatic modern building, the Getty Center houses European paintings, drawings, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, decorative arts, and European and American photographs. We received our private tour because some pieces from Terry's personal collection were on exhibit here Jun-Sep 2010.

The largest art museum in the western United States, LACMA house over 100,000 objects dating from ancient times to the present. Collections include Asian, African, Egyptian, Latin American and Pacific art, decorative arts, European sculpture and paintings, and contemporary art.

One of the world’s largest and most valuable collections of specimens and artifacts, some as old as 4.5 billion years. Exhibits include the Age of Mammals, an Insect Zoo, Gems and Minerals, and the halls of American and California History. The new, much-anticipated Dinosaur Hall opens in July 2011.

Surrounded by metropolitan Los Angeles, this is the only active urban paleontological excavation site in the United States. On display are mastodons, saber-toothed cats and other Ice Age fossils, dating back 10,000 to 40,000 years. Visitors can observe scientists identifying and preparing fossils in the “Fishbowl Lab," and can view the excavation process during the summer months.
