Itinerary
Morning
Vienna remains Austria’s center of politics and culture. Start the morning with a quick visit to the towering 12th-century St. Stephens Cathedral. Continue with a guided tour of the impressive Hofburg Palace, including the Treasury and the Spanish Riding School. Watch an exhibition of the famous Lipizzaner stallions (based on performance schedule).
Afternoon
Visit Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburg Family, where you will admire its frescoed ceilings, crystal chandeliers and gilded decor. Attend a private Marionette Theater performance (based on availability).
Morning
You’ll begin with a tour of Medieval Vienna including the Jewish Quarter. Here you will discover well-preserved old buildings and hidden courtyards. Walk along the Ringstrasse that circles Vienna’s historic center and is lined with extravagant hotels, museum, and sites such as the Opera House, the Volksgarten, and the Burgtheater.
Afternoon
Visit the exciting Museumsquartier, where the world-renowned Leopold Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Arts are located.
Morning
This morning’s tour is dedicated to Viennese music and composers. See the Mozart House, where the Marriage of Figaro was composed, and visit the composer’s grave at the Vienna Central Cemetery. Take a 40-minute tour of the Opera House.
Afternoon
Visit the Liechtenstein Museum, located in the Liechtenstein Palais and home of the Prince of Liechtenstein’s massive art collection, which has been cultivated since the 17th century. The palace itself is grand enough to warrant a visit; the most notable part of the collection is the Peter Paul Rubens Room.
Dinner
Early dinner at the hotel for a timely arrival at the Opera House.
Evening Performance at the Opera House
Be sure to reserve your table on the ground floor or in the Marble Hall and order your snacks and drinks in advance for the interval during opera and ballet performances.
Morning
Visit Belvedere and Kunsthistorisches Museums. An overview tour of Belvedere will last a minimum of 2 hours.
Afternoon
Enjoy an afternoon of shopping and people watching. Or, visit the avant-garde Hundertwasserhaus apartment complex, one of the country’s most fascinating buildings.
