Hofburg Palace
This vast complex was the city residence of the Habsburg royal family. Take a tour of the imperial apartments, see the dazzling riches on display in the treasury, and hear the Vienna Boys Choir perform.
Spanish Riding School
This historic school within the Hofburg complex is the place to see the famous Lipizzaner stallions in action. Performances are seasonal and take place mostly on weekends.
Schloss Schönbrunn
Once the summer home of the Habsburgs, this enormous palace is considered one of Europe’s most splendid. The gardens and zoo are also well worth visiting.
Staatsoper (Opera House)
The grand interior of this premier opera venue is worth a tour even if you aren’t able to see a performance. (But see one if you can.)
The Belvedere
This magnificent Baroque palace is filled with impressive works of art, including the world’s largest Klimt collection.
Kunsthistorisches Museum
Displaying the Habsburg’s vast art collection, this is one of the world’s largest and finest art museums, with works by Bruegel, Velazquez, Caravaggio, Rembrandt and many more.
Stephansdom
Rising from the very heart of the city, this richly decorated gothic church dates back to the 13th century. The 448-foot south tower, or Steffl, is Vienna’s most prominent landmark.
