Itinerary
You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you might want to take a driving tour of the city or shop at the souks.
Your full day of sightseeing will include the Roman Citadel and Roman Theater in Amman, and the wonderfully preserved Greco-Roman city of Jerash, complete with a Roman army and chariot experience.
Today you’ll drive along the King’s Highway, the world’s oldest continuously used communication route. You’ll stop at Madaba, “City of Mosaics,” to see St. George’s Church with its famous map of the world. You’ll also visit Mt. Nabo, said to be the final resting place of Moses, and the crusader castles of Kerak and Shobak.
Upon your arrival in Petra, you’ll take an evening tour of the ancient city by candlelight.
Your full-day private tour of the fabled lost city of Petra will begin with a horseback ride into the Siq gorge. You’ll see the spectacular Treasury building, the Royal Tombs, and Petra Church. We also recommend that you take the hour-long but not strenuous hike up to the Monastery – the view is worth it.
You’ll drive down to the breathtaking desert valley of Wadi Rum, made famous by the movie Lawrence of Arabia. Your day of sightseeing will include a one-hour camel ride, lunch at a Bedouin camp, and a tour of the Wadi sights by 4x4 vehicle.
In the evening, you’ll return to Petra.
You will drive back to Amman along the King’s Highway, if you wish to see more of the sights, or you can take the faster route along the Desert Highway. Once back in Amman, you can spend your time at your leisure, visiting the mosques and museums or shopping at the souks.
