The backcountry surrounding Aspen offers some of the best hiking in Colorado!
List of hiking trails
The top of Aspen Mountain is a gateway to some of Colorado's best alpine hiking and walking trails. Pick up a map from the base village ticket office and plan your route for the day!
There are also guided hikes available. Aspen Alpine Guides is a professional guide service, that provides quality mountain guiding adventures year-round.
To explore Snowmass hiking, take the Elk Camp Gondola or Elk Camp chairlift (Friday through Sunday). It offers amazing views and tons of trails suitable for all levels of hikers.

Perhaps the quintessential Aspen experience, a ride up the Silver Queen Gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain is a must for every visitor.

The Elk Camp Gondola at Snowmass will take you and your bike to the beautiful midway point or ride the Elk Camp chairlift to the summit of Snowmass and access trails of every level. There is a trail system covering 50 miles of terrain including gentle roads to challenging single tracks. Helmet and lift ticket required to access lift-served trails.

Family garden activities are offered at Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Summer Workshops for artists of all ages are available at Anderson Ranch. They attract thousands of artists, art-lovers, students, faculty and patrons annually to this historic and beautiful 5-acre mountain ranch in Snowmass Village.
Aspen Center for Environmental Studies
The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) is a non-profit environmental education center, now with four beautiful locations in the Aspen area.
During the summer, daily programs include naturalist-guided walks; eagle, hawk, and owl demonstrations; one- and two-hour programs for children; sunset beaver walks; and interpretive campground programs.
Anderson Ranch
Anderson Ranch is nestled among the high peaks of the Rocky Mountains in the resort community of Snowmass Village, Colorado, 10 miles west of Aspen and 160 miles west of Denver. The campus sits at the head of the Brush Creek valley at 8,200 feet in elevation.
