Gorges du Verdon
The Grand Canyon of Verdon is one of the most spectacular sights in France. The River is named after its startling turquoise color, one of the canyon's most distinguishing characteristics. Cutting deep into rock, the Verdon river has created a series of gorges 15 miles long and up to 2,300 feet deep. It flows into the Lac de Ste-Croix. The canyon offers rock climbing, whitewater rafting and hiking. Motorboats, windsurfing boards, and catamarans can be hired at the village of Ste-Croix.
