Terry Simms Bio
Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Terry has been surfing since the age of 6. He began teaching his friends to surf in the fourth grade, so he would have someone to surf with. In the early ‘80s, he moved to Kauai, where he entered his first surf competition in 1985. He spent 25 years as a professional surfer, from 1985-1998. The pinnacle of his pro career was 1997, when he appeared on the cover of international magazines four times: Surfer’s Journal (twice) Longboard Magazine, and Pacific Longboarder. After retiring from competition, he ran the San Onofre Surf Camp founded by the legendary Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz. Encouraged by some enthusiastic clients, he started his own company, TSS, in 1998. He and his wife Nancy currently live in Ojai, CA, near Santa Barbara and, of course, the beach.
