Moving on to Belize, you'll travel to Francis Ford Coppola's Blancaneaux Lodge located in the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. Then its on to Placencia, staying in a private villa at Francis Ford Coppola’s Turtle Inn and snorkeling or diving the world's second-largest coral reef with your personal guide.
International flight arrival to Guatemala. Greeting by your host and assistance with your private helicopter ride to Casa Palopo on Lake Atitlan. Arrival at your private villa which boasts spectacular view of the crystal blue lake and surrounding volcanoes. The private villa features its own heliport, beautiful terraces, a heated lap pool, Jacuzzi and gazebo along with a private butler. The natural beauty of Lake Atitlan is complimented by the rich culture found in the traditional villages that overlook it, its residents proudly selecting traditional Mayan dress over more modern trends. Upon arrival, an esteemed scholar, who has lived among the indigenous people for over 20 years, will provide an informative talk about the unique Mayan cultural and spiritual heritage of the local residents. Then, experience a spiritual ceremony performed by a local shaman at the shrine to the Mayan deity Maximon in the beautiful rural community of Concepcion and later, experience a private cooking class where you will learn how to make local specialties with the guidance of a local chef.
With your private guide the following day, embark on private boating excursion on the lake to explore the local communities with your personal guide. Meet with Socorro Sicay Perez, who has been awarded for her efforts to recuperate traditional weaving techniques. Enjoy a delicious lunch followed by relaxation at the pool of your villa in the afternoon and another delicious meal in the evening.
Greeting by your personal host and private helicopter ride to the newly built luxury lodge, Las Lagunas. Set on a massive nature preserve, Las Lagunas is the most luxurious property in the region boasting water front bungalows each with private Jacuzzis overlooking the beautiful and pristine Lake Peten Itza. Enjoy horseback riding through the property and a private boating excursion on the lake.
The following morning, enjoy a private guided tour of Tikal. Located in the heart of the jungle Tikal is one of the major sites of Mayan civilization, inhabited from the 6th century B.C. to the 10th century A.D. With over 3,000 structures and surrounded by lush vegetation, Tikal National Park was deemed a UNESCO Cultural and Natural World Heritage Site in 1979. Listen to howler monkeys, spot toucans and enjoy the jungle atmosphere as you explore the superb temples, palaces, and public squares of this ceremonial center with your own personal guide.
In the afternoon, enjoy a private guided tour of the beautiful Yaxha ruins at sunset followed by wine and cheese among the ruins. Relax in your lodge’s pool followed by gourmet meals in the evenings.
Days 5-6
Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve
Private vehicle transfer to Francis Ford Coppola's Blancaneaux Lodge located in the Belize jungle. Adventurous day trip by small canoe into an estuary to visit the mystical Barton Creek Cave, once a sacred offering site for the ancient Mayan people.
The following day, enjoy hiking to a 25 foot waterfall exploring the diverse flora and fauna of the region and enjoy a gourmet picnic by the waterfall just for your party. In the afternoon, swim in natural pools and return by horse-back to your lodge.
Private flight to Placencia. Flight arrival and private transfer to Francis Ford Coppola’s Turtle Inn where you will stay at a private villa right along the beach. Spend time kayaking, fishing and wind-surfing. Explore the second largest barrier reef and its dozens of offshore cays while snorkeling or scuba diving with your personal guide. Enjoy a private guided tour on your speed boat through the unique mangrove estuaries in the Placencia lagoon. Search for manatees, dolphins, and a variety of birds.
On your final day, private helicopter transfer to Guatemala International airport for your international flight home. Along the way, enjoy aerial sightseeing over the Blue Hole.
