Summer 2010

Safaris & Soccer

Dear Members,

As I’m sure you already know, the 2010 World Cup is being held in South Africa next summer. If you’re thinking of attending this exciting and keenly anticipated event, why not take make the most of your visit and explore the wild places nearby? Our partner Wilderness Safaris is offering a series of special African safaris during the June/July period. These 3-5 day adventures can be easily added on to your trip before or after your World Cup experience. Covering a range of different countries, landscapes and accommodation styles, they offer the quintessential southern African safari experience at an affordable price.

Just imagine—the thrill of witnessing the world’s premier soccer event, followed by the unforgettable joy of seeing lions, giraffes, elephants, rhinos and other African wildlife in their native habitats. Special tours are available in Botswana, Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Kruger National Park in South Africa. All are prime wildlife destinations and are easily accessible via daily flights from South Africa. Wilderness Safaris also operates their own airline, Sefofane Air Charters, which will have aircraft specifically available during the World Cup to fly travelers to the various locations. (Sefofane can also take advantage of alternate airports near the towns where the games will be played.)

Some of the camps will have access to the viewing of World Cup matches (though this will not impact those guests who aren’t interested in soccer).

The World Cup is approaching fast, so if you’re interested in having the southern African experience of a lifetime, start making your plans today. For World Cup tickets, visit the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ website.
